In SEMO higher daytime temps and excessive moisture is our biggest issue. When planting beans in April, I tend to put them at 1”-1.5” but it’s definitely cooler then. From mid May on, temps are typically getting pretty warm and if there’s plenty moisture I’m around .5”- .75”. I’ve seen them literally cook between germination and emergence, when planted to deep, to wet and to hot.
