I doubt if many know what a runner planter was. We had one when I was a kid. My uncle always said when planting beans you should be able to glance over to your last and see a few beans on top the ground. He would say “ you can’t plant your beans to shallow or your corn too deep. I don’t totally agree but I’ve had more problems with shallow planted corn, 1 1/4@ - 1 1/2 than at 2”. I never was one to “chase moisture”, especially with beans unless it was late
