| We built one using that design as our starting point. We used a Morton building with an offset gable roof. We use the back end for hay and straw and equipment storage. The front had an apron that sloped to the east with an overhang that we parked a manure spreader under. Scraped it out once a week. The front had about 8' of clearance, and we built 5' drop down doors with clear panels in them to cut down on drafts and still let sun in. They were hinged, and a rope and pulley would lift them out of the way.
After getting out of hogs, we used it for our expanding sheep operation. Finished lambs in the spring/summer and put ewes in late gestation in it during the winter. Didn't have to modify anything, just more bedding for the sheep.
Now, it's mainly hay storage. Round bales in the back, small squares in the old pens plus some equipment that will fit. Still use one pen for sheep as the sheep operation is more of a hobby now.
Worked pretty well, but today's hogs wouldn't be able to stand the cold like the one's of 20 years ago even with extra bedding.
