Don't overdue it to start. Use the bar with no weights, 50 reps. Every muscle group.
I lifted in my 20s and 30s. Not so much now at almost 50 but still do weekly at least. I never did lift massive weights. Always lighter weights and more reps. IMO it makes you stronger but not bulky.
