 Rolla, ND | I was going to suggest it is likely a problem with the sciatic nerve. I had problems at shopping malls until I learned to take smaller steps.
It would kind of lock up the hip movement then as the back increased swing to make up the difference everything would get bad.
Lots of videoes on YouTube on stretches and such to help.
Good chiro can help when it gets bad. Physical therapist to prevent getting bad.
