If you can find one with a three position shuttle shift it will have a much improved electrical system over the older models. We went from an 826 with a loader to a 5140 MFD with a loader and we've been extremely happy with it. The hour meter on our's only works part of the time and I'm guessing it has at least 8,000 hours on it. We've replaced a couple of sensor's on our's, the water pump, an electrical connector on the rear end and redid the king pins in the front axle. The shuttle shift can't be beat for doing loader work, our's has the powershift transmission and it shifts pretty smooth plus the gear speeds are spaced pretty good too. Overall we've been very happy with our's and I'd like to get a second one with a cab or even an MX-120 or 135 to get the bigger hydrualic pump. Going from an older IH to a Maxxum there are a few things that will take some getting used to. 1st is they have a parking brake that is kind of a joke. 2nd they will only run about 18 mph on the road. 3rd is the reversable pto shaft to change from 540 to 1,000 rpm. |
