WCIL | I remember going to Galesburg to catch the train to Chicago early the next day after dad loaded cattle on a truck late in the day the day before. He tried to go every time but wasn't always able to. Once got on the train and my grandpa was sitting a few seats back and neither one of them knew they had cattle hauled to the stockyards the day before. That was a treat to follow them around for the day. Took a taxi to the stockyards and if dad needed a new straw hat we stopped at a hat store on the way and he bought one. | |
