Subject: RE: Replant after rye

Croswell, Michigan
I worked some rye in a few years ago in the spring. The field had liquid manure applied in the fall and the rye was very lush. Unfortunately I had fall chiseled it and it was too rough to plant as is. We had a poor stand of beans that yielded 10 bu less than all my others. Seed corn maggot was the consensus. Never again will I work green rye down in the spring.
