Swaledale, IA | It does depend on where he wants to end up. A few years ago, the local fire department took over the ambulance service. I believe from then on, they were going to require EMT/Paramedic, not sure which, to join. That will not be true everywhere and kind of depends on what his goals are, or he wants to do. Does he want to run around in an ambulance or run the ladders and pumpers. Both are in demand. Once a paramedic you have lots of options outside of fire department also.
