In 2012, I had a freak storm cloud drop 2+ inches of rain with a little bit of hail on one corn field that was not a foot tall yet. I was actually worried about the brief ponding at that moment. The die had not been cast on the drought and heat at that time. When the fall came, that field made 160 bpa. 20 bushel better than my next best field and 40 bushel better than the whole farm average. The only difference was that one spring storm.
