So I'm curious as to what they are doing to remedy the oil consumption. Seems as there would have to be changes to components and/or tolerance adjustments to components to curb oil usage. Otherwise rebuilding with parts that are the same as what's going in engines using oil will net an engine that is rebuilt using oil.

It would be like rebuilding the old 5.7l Olds diesel. It's a darn turd no matter what!
