Don't know anything about the 6.6 engine, but don't sound NEAR as bad as the old 454's. Had a 454 in a '77 Chevy 3/4 ton. If not pulling, and just driving around,- 1 qt. of oil per fill of gas. And the BEST milage I ever got with the 4:56 rear end was 7 1/4 MPG. Under a load, oil consumption was not nearly as bad. Lot's of power and torque, but top end was 86 MPH, but you could get there in a flash.


This is very true but you would think almost 50 years later they'd have it figured out.
