Milford, IL | Preaching to the choir my man. Im 50' from fiber but 'only hooking on hospitals and .gov for now'. Phone company would occasionally spike to 12MB, mostly below 10.
Recently dumped the DSL folks for cable promising 1000 MB. We do get 250 on occasion hardwired with Cat6, wireless seems limited to 60 even with late model device. Normally I would be rightly ticked off with 25% of promised speed at the absolute best, but then the monthly bill is the same as the DSL folks so maybe I had learn to accept things as they are.
Interestingly, new ISP DNS settings hijack older devices with static DNS parameters manually set, had to switch from ISP DNS to 1.1.1.1 to continue as desired. Weird, and slightly above my pay grade, but things are back in order. | |
