Ne Colorado
Not sure this helps but we dry bale and direct chop both here. I couldn’t get mine to eat dry baled rye very well. But we had some irrigated trit and it was phenomenal feed. Energy was better than alfalfa and protein was 14.5. We put up so much of it dry that we were feeding it two years out from actual Harvest. Most of those two year old bales were still green. I will say tho they are a different animal for silage. We have a HELL of a time getting them to unload out of our chain floors. The local dairy here buys hailed out insurance feed and wants it VERY dry. Dread helping them haul every year
