We have used it for the dairy on and off over the years. (Current hay acres are enough not to need much extra.) Trit had higher feed value, was slower to mature but more forgiving on harvest window. Its been a bit, but I'd say it was maybe a week later than rye? Yes, seed cost will be more.

If you need tonnage I'd go with rye. If quality is important Trit is a good option.
