We ran a Deere 1890 for a few years. There were several in our area for a while. But most have went another way.

Pro. Fast. We liked the seed placement in the ground. Pretty simple operation. Better erosion control with narrower rows.

Con. Evan though we ran a scale on the seed box. It was a constant fight to accurately get to your target seed rate. Always high or next check would be low. And seed treatment made a big difference on seed rate between companies.
There is no way to move trash on higher yielding environments or with the taller bigger stalk corn stubble.
Maintenance on a Deere seeder can be a real pain. They are a lot of work to grease and keep everything maintained

That being said. I would still run ours if it was easier to monitor seed rates.

Cede is right on the money. We ran one for several years too. I even agree with his last statement. Real battle.
