I don't think you are out of line to raise the point but I think we are a long way from traders getting very excited about wet conditions. As you point out even a perception can trigger a move and I don't think it is unrealistic that funds might trim short positions but not necessarily go net long either. As someone else pointed out I think a lot of field work has been done in preparation for planting and when a window opens the crop will get slammed in pretty quickly. A wild guess for my area would be 50% planted on corn and 25% on beans. I could see this delay propping the market up slightly in the near term but I also think one needs to be realistic in their expectations from any such rally.
