That's broadly pretty accurate.  

And that red area in Missouri has plenty of time for both flooding and drought.   Although, I think the odds for above-average production in that area are high in a crop year ending with "4".   Can't offer any more proof than 2014, 2004, 1994, 1984 being great corn crops there.   1974, maybe sketchy depending on how late the planting was.
