It's a Noxious Weed.

Soil Conservation Service recommended it for a while in the late 1950's early 1960's for grass waterways.
Nasty stuff...way too rank once it gets established, can't hardly cut it down with a bush hog and 120 hp tractor...slow going.
So rank, it forces the water to run outside the waterway instead of in the center of the grass, and creates another channel on each side way sooner than normal.
Had it on one farm in the 60's. Still fighting it there and on the next farm downstream.
Cornstalks probably have more feed value

SCS had some bum recs back then,,,Reed, Multifora Rose, Johnson Grass...all turned out to be bad stuff.
funny Johnson grass makes a lot of hay in this country. Treat it right and it's great imo.
