Yup,,,when one of my grandfathers died a neighbor donated money in his name to the charity that was paying for her daughter to spread the gospel in Africa. It was some missionary group few people had heard of,definitely not something anyone in my family would have donated to. Really would have just preferred a card with a handwritten note.
