Same impression here too.  All the drama and hoopla for not much.  I got gas little after totality and a couple high school kids were stand by the next pump holding their viewing glasses I asked to borrow their glasses and they politely handed me them.  Looked at it for maybe 30 seconds max and handed the glasses back to them.   Son got home just after me and was all excited and wanted me to look.   To be a good sport and show enthusiasm for something he was excited about I used his glasses to look.
