Subject: Rye silage

Ne Nebraska
Thinking of chopping some rye. Would I regret putting it in a ground pile vs bagging it. Custom chopper has a bagger but dang it seems expensive. Would basically double the cost of harvest by bagging it vs ground pile with good tarp. Hopefully be 500 ton pile. Is the extra cost worth it? Wouldn’t be feeding any for probably 6-7 months after chopped. Thanks for thoughts. Get along great with ground pile of corn silage.
