SMALLEST BEEF COW HERD IN 75 YEARS. Pretty much says it all. No one is going to wave a magic wand and create more feeder cattle (out side of the USDA.) Last time I looked it takes more heifers than normal to increase cow numbers and that means even smaller feeder supplies in the near term. And there isn't much indication that there are a whole lot more heifers being held back. Even with high calf prices there were a lot of bred heifers sold last fall that might have been more profitable if they had sold for feeders, all costs figured.

Lots of feeder cattle enter US from Canada and Mexico. Also a look at meat production not cow herd numbers.

Is anyone privy to the calf numbers coming into Canada from U.S. to be fed. Then back down to JBS plant here by me? It was Carlson on here that first brought it to my attention on here numbers headed north. Lots were video cattle.
