Depends how you want to live in retirement. If it were me, I'd say that's enough, especially in my case where we'll have some land paid off by then and that would provide income from rental or sales as well.
Another factor is whether there's an employer match. I don't see many circumstances where it isn't in your best interest to contribute the max matching amount.
If you don't "need" to contribute that much you're still money ahead doing so and then paying the penalty for an early withdrawal.
