Cherokee County, Northwest Iowa | I can deduce that 03 powerstroke was born in 1953, as I was. I drew # 12, even got to ride the bus to Omaha in August of 1972 to take the pre-induction physical. Took both freshman and sophomore Army ROTC courses my sophomore year. Pres. Nixon failed to renew the draft in Jan. 27, 1973. I dropped the ROTC courses after completing them winter quarter, so got credit and grades for my efforts.
But I did learn a couple of things from ROTC. Learned more about public speaking in their courses than i ever did in any high school or college course. Also learned that if you run around on maneuvers at nearby Ledges State Park playing soldier, and tried to not fire your rifle (and therefore wouldn't have to clean it later) you got a swift kick in the butt.
