| I was a senior in college when the draft lottery was implemented. I remember sitting around with a large number of male friends watching the lottery. One friend drew #1. Another drew #5. They both went out the next day and signed up for the National Guard. A fair amount of beer was consumed the rest of the evening by friends either celebrating, or commiserating.
Mine was 200 and something, but it didn't matter, because after one or two years of ROTC training, I had failed an ROTC physical..... so wasn't expecting to be getting drafted anyway. showboat | |
