Southeast WI | Oh I understand what you are saying. Daughter that went to Madison applied for scholarships each year and got a few - 3-5000 per year adds up. Other daughter went to smaller state school for her teaching degree and didn't have as much options for scholarships but working took care of needing extra money for gas, entertainment and food once she got out of the dorm scenario.
However there's nothing wrong with teaching kids to take care of themselves and family first and look for handouts second. Junk Fun had that part of the conversation go over his head.
