I’d split it however you want to. Kids will fight about it no matter what.
If you give non farm kids land, you better do something to protect the farmer kid. Some sort of ironclad lease. I have a friend whose siblings get to tell him what crops to plant because mom left them each 1/3 of the estate. He even has to clear equipment purchases with them. Neither of the siblings know anything about ag and live an airplane ride away.
It’s insanity to me that anyone would want to still own a bunch of assets at the end of their life and allow lawyers to dictate the future of their business. It’s almost like some of this older generation wanted the farm to end with them.
