Subject: RE: 8430t auto pilot voltage fault

SEQ, Australia
Generally 3 possible causes. Option 1: The SIU's like good grounding, and they are only getting the John Deere Cab grounding via the ground strap on the cab. Run a proper earth wire from the Battery terminal (or isolator if equipped) and run it into the the cab and directly to the 2 pin power connector on the NavIII harness - grounding the NavII directly to the battery. Option 2: One of the steering potentiometers on the orbital is either out of cal on the John Deere side or faulty - your John Deere guys will have to be involved at this point, but there are values & codes that can be seen on the digital readout on the side console to give them a headstart on what is wrong. Option 3: is that the SIU is faulty.

I've fixed 3 recently - 2 of them were Option 1, 1 of them was Option 2. I haven't had to do an Option 3 in many, many years. John Deere will have to re-calibrate the potentiometers through their systems before the Trimble system will pick up the values corectly, but the fact that you are getting a code on the Deere screen suggests that Option 2 is more likely the issue here.
