Subject: Re: Farm Vehicles on Public Roads

Brazilton KS

Trucking company that was delivering to us laid 50,000 lbs of manure over into a ditch here a month or so ago.  We loaded it up, hauled it off,  set the trailer back up and moved it out of the road.  No need for a bunch of drama, just did the job.   Afterwards, there's no way anyone would be able to tell anything had happened, because it was completely cleaned up.  Fortunately, that's usually the way things get taken care of here, as long as some Mr IMportant doesn't get involved.

Heck, several years ago there was a oilman who had one of his tank batteries vandalized (and, it was thought latter, robbed) and the valve left open or broken or something, emptying the tanks.  It ran down the ditch and into a small creek.  We happened to have a dozer nearby, and were able to dam the creek up to stop it from running any farther, then the well service outfit skimmed it off and returned what they could to the tanks, also flushing the ditch down with water to push it to the coffer where they were collecting it.  KCC, KDHE, and county were all involved, but still no big drama and no need to call in anyone special when there was plenty of equipment already on site to handle the problem.

I don't have any attitude toward anyone, I'm just once again sure glad that we still have some common sense in this state, or at least this part of the state, to most of the time keep the professional bureaucrats  out of the way so things can be handled.
