| Tried my hand at backgrounding calves this fall and really enjoyed it. Planning to expand that part of the farm this coming fall. Plan to make corn silage, oatlage bales, oat straw and dry alfalfa grass hay. At most I’d have 150 calves. Is there anything I’m missing I should plan to grow for feed this spring?
What would a good mix be to keep calves green, will have access to shelled corn and oats as well for feedstuffs that could be utilized if need be. Try to buy as little from the coop as possible.
