Cambridge, southwestern Nebraska | After skipping through some of the comments I'll add my own.
I have bought land since 1990. So far most has worked out but when it gets to the prices today I'm not all that convinced owning land makes the best business sense. In the past, the land I bought might not make me any money after the payments but I could usually break-even and inflating prices added to the value. Breaking even on the land after payments isn't going to happen today. Land may or may not inflate for awhile. Could back down. That's the big question.
Real Estate taxes keep taking a bigger chunk. I can see that as one way our government confiscates our land. If that happens land ownership isn't such a great idea.
I understand your goal of wanting to own land but you need to live a little too. You can put yourself to the grindstone your whole life and have some land at the end but really, why? We will all eventually die and what will we be remembered for or what will you look back on your life and wished you had done different? I think owning a piece of ground isn't going to be at the top of the ladder. |
