9 out of 10 times when I throw the chain it happens when trimming little stuff. Like others have mentioned, keep the chain tighter than usual. Seems to help.
I have 2 gas saws and dad has a Dewalt 12". The battery saw is outstanding for little jobs. So light and quiet. Everyone should have one in the toolbox.
