Subject: RE: Gambling

Fruita CO
Two little dying mining towns in Colorado, Central City & Black Hawk, decided casinos would be a good way to survive, so they got gambling legalized in that district. All the bars & cafes put in slot machines, & people started coming...the winding canyon road became a drunk driving nightmare, you took your life in your hands on weekend nights going back into Denver. Fast forward about 20 years, & those towns are unrecognizable. Big companies from Vegas & Atlantic City moved in, bought out the Mom & Pop places tore them down & built mega-casinos, too expensive to live there any more...a case of be careful what you wish for for the locals.
We stopped in Black Hawk one time just to see what it was like, there was a group of 3 or 4 younger couples there to have some fun. One guy took a bucket full of tokens & started pumping them into a machine...after about 5 minutes he yelled out "Honey, I'm broke!"
