Nope. Personally, I have never used "bar oil" in my Stihl Farmboss, it's too dang thick. I usually run what I have sitting around, 10w40, left over Rotella Syn. So long as you keep it lubed it should do just fine. By the way, the saw and the bar and chain are going on 8 years and still runs like a top.
