| My Dad's was 'you better start pickin it up'. It took me until about 10 years old before I realized it was Marine Corp slang for 'you better start moving your tail'. Was used in any circumstance from eating lunch, hauling bales, and even picking stuff up. Going to the lake. Coming home from the lake. Cleaning up the shop. Messing up the shop. It meant something in pretty much every conceivable instance, and was obviously significant. After hearing it enough times, you pretty much knew what it meant regardless of circumstance, even if he was talking about understanding the english teacher in highschool.
Thanks Chris for making me remember that. | |
