Western-Central Lower Michigan | 3 big things, SHOVEL SNOW, and MOW LAWN with a push mower and houses had WOOD HEAT with lots of hauling, cutting and splitting.
All farms were "scaled down" and here most made small bales and if they did sileage it was a supplement. Fed cows and shoveled manure. Big home garden, lots of work there.
Kids rode bikes, and played outdoors till after dark. NO TV.
