South Central MN | Part of our farm is organic, and we've used 3-shank spring-trip, single shank with barring off discs, and a lilliston type cultivator called the 100th Meridian (a beefier version of the lilliston) We now run a B&H with single shank, barring discs, and a rigid center coulter and use a deere pivot-type guidance hitch which is awesome. The 3-shank was nice for leaving the dirt smooth without clods, but the singles with barring discs are the best for pulling weeds from the row. With the hitch following the row, we have set the discs down close enough so they are leaving around a 2-3" strip when working in young plants. We like the meridian for later in the season when we want to throw a lot of dirt. As for brands, we've had B&H, JD, and orthman, and we like the B&H the best. | |
