| One suggestion I read somewhere was that it would be wise to install a coolant temperature guage for both cylinder banks on the 640 V8. Each cylinder bank has its own thermostat but the temp sender is on one side only. If the thermostat on the other side would malfunction, that side could be cooked before knowing it.
I have a 2775. Engine runs good and I hope it remains so. I only use it like a 100 HP tractor with that size tillage implements and am well satisfied with the fuel economy. It is not a fuel hog pulling moderate loads 1500-2000 rpm. I very seldom use all the horsepower unless I'm roading a load of hay.
Dealer told me I never want to overhaul it due to cost. I'd be more concerned about the 24 speed trans in these 2000 series MFs. If they have had the powershift taken out and been converted to the 8 speed, then they are reasonably bulletproof.
Moral of the story: If you buy a 2805, buy it cheap enough you won't mind junking it out if something major goes. | |
