Thanks, all. Well, that's not good news. This is actually a wall outlet, around chest high or so. It is right below (a foot or so) an outdoor light fixture on the outside of that same wall. I pulled the switch plate for that light (about two studs from the outlet) and saw no evidence of any activity, so hoping it's isolated and will be easy to treat.
