Sioux County, NWIA | I added oilers to 2 of my round balers. Not sure I will do it again. Yes they are adjustable. Yes they work off the door cylinder pressure. IMO they don’t have a large enough reservoir to work right. Even with the dose rate turned down we are usually out of oil 1/2 to 2/3 of the way through a longer day. If they had a much larger reservoir, they would go through a crazy amount of oil per day if they were set to max dose rate. After adding the oilers I thought the chains and sprockets wore just as fast as before. I have also had a hard time getting an even flow rate to each chain. Even with restrictors in some lines I am still over oiling 2 chains. I bale crop residues mostly. I think in those conditions it is possible that wet chains just have abrasive stick to them that much worse.
If you want to try them, don’t get them through an implement dealer. The oilers I have are made by Suburban Manufacturing and I will have to look what retailer I bought them from. I believe it was $500 per oiler kit.
