If you can find one that hasnt been beat, 1840 case was the gold standard for quite a few years. Ive seen them with 10k hours. However, they havent been made for well over a decade now, maybe longer. But for a simple, no frills machine, it was very very good.

There a few mustangs out there with an incredible yanmar engine. I cant remember the model numbers off hand though.

I had bad luck with the lx465 new holland I had. But that was an auction buy. Although flex plate problems are common with that model.

Some people I know swore by the old new holland/john deere skids. Once again you will have to do the research, as i can not reliably recall the model numbers.
