Central Nebraska | If they are headed to Omaha, they start in Cheyenne, WY and usually lay over in North Platte, NE. From there it's onto Grand Island for a lay over and on into Omaha. The tracks follow Hwy 30 for the most part from Ogallala to Columbus. There are good places to stop and watch along the way, especially between North Platte and GI. Just be forewarned, safe driving habits and common sense are lost when the train comes through. The layover spots don't provide the best viewing. I'd recommend hitting a few of the whistle stops instead. Keep an eye on the schedule linked above and they give good information. Can't help on any other routes. | |
