North central North Dakota | Northwind - 2/26/2024 12:31 Where do I go to follow these flights on a daily basis? Thank you.
I use flightradar24.com
This weekend I set up a ADS-B receiver at my house to pick up the transmissions from aircraft in my area. I have attached a few photos. Flightradar24 has a feature where they let you have access to the business level account for free as along as you are sending them information. Instead of setting up my own receiver, I requested and was granted a free one from them. Came direct from Sweden to me.
Airplanes over about 5000 feet are seen on my receiver pretty much over North Dakota and parts of Minnesota and South Dakota. There could be 50 UND planes in the air but I may only see the ones higher up with my receiver. (of course I can toggle the view of only my receiver or all available) There are military unmanned drones up very often by Grand Forks also.
Edit for computer geek inquiries. Raspberry Pi 4 in custom box with display. POE powered. Has antenna for ADSB reception and GPS antenna for location. Ubiquiti Flex is POE++ powered and is used to power FR24 box as well as the Ubiquiti U6 Mesh Access Point that is used to get signal from another building that has internet connection and feed another Ubiquiti U6 Mesh Access Point. I plan to hook up a 60Hz building bridge to get better reception and faster speed and let U6 just stay there for good wireless coverage.
