NC Iowa | probably not as practical with 3 older kids, but wife and i booked an Amtrak vacation to east glacier. they did all the reservations and meals and side trips. we just got on the train at la crosse wisconsin. stayed at the historic big tree lodge and went on several guided tours of the park and the lake on the boat. the train ride was an experience in itself. it was a great trip and no planning on our part. probably costs more than if we booked ourselves, but worked good for us. glad we went because as it turned out, it was the last trip we were able to go on together.
