| Those gold certificates are the same as stocks for the most. Most people don’t realize on any brokerage firm when they buy a stock it’s really the brokerage “lending” it to them indefinitely
Actually one of the reasons people advocate for Bitcoin was in owning your own keys. Of course with places like Coinbase and what not you don’t own your btc either. So they stopped that pretty quickly
GameStop is doing something called direct register shares with Computershare and they are trying to actually ACCOUNT for every share and if they can drs the whole float shorts will “theoretically” be forced to cover but shady things are already happening with the drs and the companies are giving them the run around.
Cede and co I think has something to do with it. They usually get alot of hate when it comes to this
It’s extremely complicated but basically when people say “you’ll own nothing and be happy” imo we are already at that point.
