We’ve done both, and we have both tire and track machines, and I’ve yet to see where the tire machine out performs the track machine in regards to emergence and stand. We have some heavier soil (30-36 CEC) and that’s where the difference is most noticeable. The tracks float on that softer heavy dirt much better and create a lot less compaction.

That being said, if you have steep or terraced hill ground, then I prefer the tires. We have both Missouri River bottom ground and terraced hill ground and the 2 tracks dont like the terraces at all. A 4 track machine works well in the hills, 2 tracks do not.
