Bloomfield MO | Freshly overhauled 290 small cam built to 350 specs. Timing was changed at the cam and cam followers. Rebuilt injectors, injection pump, in frame kit, pulse manifold from a big cam 2 and new N14 turbo. Heads were also reconditioned, small Jakes added with big cam 1 rocker boxes and water to air cooler added. Started truck and noticed a lot of white smoke, ran it down the road and it’s making a popping sound between 1600 and 1800 rpm. Brought it back to the shop and noticed fuel or oil coming from the front of the 3 piece exhaust manifold. New it was coming from either 1 or 2 cylinder. Removed the Jakes rocker box and everything looked good. Removed the manifold and turbo and noticed number 2 exhaust port was extremely wet. Popped number 2 injector and o rings were good and injector tip looked good. Pulled head and head gasket looked good. Could there be something wrong with the head? I took it back to the machine shop to have it checked again but haven’t heard anything yet.
