So, how far back was Deere developing the 8X00 series? I would say they were designing it around the 50 series.


There’s a pic in one of the Deere books that shows one of the engineers and some drawings of different tractors on his desk. If you flip the book upside down, you can see one of the pics looks just like a 7000 series (which came out in 1993). The pic is dated sometime in the 60’s, if I’m not mistaken. They really stretched that owl cage design out for a long time. Always making a couple improvements with each new series.
