If you buy a new printer, do you think it will be easier to find/ buy refurb ink?
Yep, the old printer was like close to 15 yrs old, like looking for parts for a 49 ford.
The refurb's they are trying to sell arent recognized by the printer, (I know the printer is ok as I have a couple refurb inks from a year ago and they were recognized fine)
Besides with a laser printer, using "toner", you can buy toner and put in the cartridge yourself or buy refurb or new cartridges. Only need ONE as its going to be black. A full toner cartridge will print WAY more than those piddly ink cartridges. I dont even use color (the printer is set to print B&W only and the color still "evaporates, or goes away" and guess what, printer wont work unless you have all cartridges in with an acceptable amount of ink, ready to print.
Refurb cartridges are/were about $30 for 2 sets of all ink. OEM is getting close to $75 for one set of ink cartridges.
No wonder they sell new printers so cheap, they make all their money on selling ink.
